Costs For Care & Therapy
Every patient who comes to the Royal Bucks is unique and will benefit from individual treatment. They often work with a range of staff to achieve the best plan and their costs will vary.
We still wish to be as transparent as possible and provide a clear framework below, to ensure patients and others are aware of the cost levels.
Pre-Admission Assessment
Before rehabilitation can start a careful assessment is essential to allow us to design an individualised rehabilitation package for you.
You can expect the assessment to take place within a week of reaching out to us.
Your assessment can be at our centre, at your home, or possibly online. Therapy recommendations and costs will be part of a comprehensive, written report, which you will receive quite quickly and can share with other parties.
The cost of pre-admission assessment is £300.
Our Core Therapy Package
Our core therapy package lays the foundation for patients receiving rehabilitation at our centre.
The total cost is £7,000 for each week which includes:
- 1 session of therapy per day (6 days per week)
- 24hr nursing care
- An on-site registered medical officer
- A private room with en-suite bathroom
- Freeview TV
- Personal laundry service
- WiFi
- Freshly prepared meals & drinks
- Standard blood tests
Where a patient requires respiratory support and increased nursing care, the cost may be around £8,000 per week.
Additional Therapy
Therapy sessions can be intensive and one session per day might be sufficient, although progress and adaptive planning could suggest more. To make decisions easier, we have put together three options to consider:
-
Schedule One:
5 additional therapy sessions per week, creating 11 in total, at a cost of £1,000
-
Schedule Two:
10 additional therapy sessions per week, creating 16 in total, at a cost of £2,000.
-
Schedule Three:
15 additional therapy sessions per week, creating 21 in total, at a cost of £3,000.

Outpatient Costs
Each person and our team will help to create an individual program for outpatient therapy, whether this is from the beginning of treatment, or follows a residential period,
The additional therapy costs are however a useful guide for anyone attending as an outpatient.

Payment Options
Insured Patients
If your medical insurer covers the payment, we can usually invoice them directly. The same may apply to other insurers.
Each situation is different, solicitors or case managers may be acting on your behalf or for other parties. Whatever the case, our team will coordinate with everyone involved to ensure accurate information is provided and payment is arranged in advance.
Self-funding Patients
If you are self funding your visit, your initial assessment, or ongoing treatment need to be prepaid. You can make payment by bank transfer, credit, or debit card, or over the phone with our administration team.
If you are making a large, or sensitive payment at our premises, we can make a private room available. Should you choose to pay in cash, please note that the maximum payable is £8,000, in compliance with money laundering legislation.

Guest Accommodation
A selection of 1 and 2 bedroom flats are available to visitors, located within our hospital grounds, offering easy access to our rehabilitation centre and close to Aylesbury town centre.
They are ideal for family members, or friends, who wish to offer support to one of our patients. This can make a notable contribution to their recovery and visitors are welcomed from 10am to 10pm.
The recently converted flats offer modern facilities and are well maintained, allowing guests to focus on the reason they are there.
Additional Costs
Personal expenditure, perhaps for newspapers, phone calls, or guest meals will be invoiced to you. This is to be fair to residents with different spending levels.
Lower cost drugs and medical consumables are normally included, high cost drugs, or previously prescribed medication are charged separately. Additional cost can also be incurred when medical treatment is not part of a rehabilitation plan.
This could be for other medical conditions identified which require a separate care pathway, with treatment taking place at one of our hospitals, or an external hospital. There can also be costs for transferring a patient.
Ongoing consultations can occur cost, or other types of medical intervention. In essence, where there is separate service provision, this is likely to be chargeable.
Cancellation Charges
Cancellation is rare at our rehabilitation centre, due to the work patients and our team put in, along with the pre-admission assessment. Circumstances can still occur and again, we feel clarity helps.
Where cancellations are more than 14 days ahead of planned treatment, a full refund will normally be given. If testing beyond pre-assessment has taken place, or items specifically ordered for your treatment, you would be liable for their cost.
That principle applies as time moves on and additional cost may be incurred. Should you cancel less than 24 hours before planned treatment, you are liable for the full cost.
Outlining the provisions above protects us and our patients. We will in reality try to be adaptable and work with you to find solutions to sudden change. The health and rehabilitation of those visiting us is our primary concern.
