What is Cryosurgery?

Cryosurgery is a medical procedure that uses extreme cold (usually liquid nitrogen) to destroy abnormal skin tissue. It is a quick, in-clinic treatment used for both cosmetic and medical skin concerns.

Conditions Treated with Cryosurgery

Cryosurgery is commonly used to treat:

Warts (including genital warts)
Actinic keratosis (precancerous lesions)

What to Expect During Cryotherapy

Consultation – Your condition will be assessed by a consultant dermatologist to determine if cryotherapy is suitable.
Procedure – Liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the lesion using a spray applicator.
Freezing Cycle – The area may be frozen for a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the size and depth of the lesion.
Healing – A blister may form and scab over as the tissue dies off. Healing usually occurs within 7–14 days.
