Dr Patel qualified in medicine in 1990, from the University of London. After further medical training at Guy’s hospital in London, he studied radiology in Cambridge and Neuroradiology in Manchester.
Ongoing study and an opportunity to see fresh radiological techniques took Dr Patel to Toronto and Paris. Part of building a breadth of knowledge. which marks him out as one of the UK’s most senior neuroradiologists.
After being appointed to the GMC’s specialist register for Radiology in 1999, Dr Patel took up several consultancy posts. They included overseeing the expansion of a neuroradiology department and six years as clinical lead.
The support he gives directly to patients is still Dr Patel’s main focus, particularly in areas relating to the medical specialty of interventional neuroradiology.
This can involve the treatment of conditions such as intracranial aneurysms, or arteriovenous (blood vessel) malformations, where x-rays, or CT scans are used to assist minimally invasive techniques.
Whether attending for radiological diagnosis, complex care, or relief from pain, Dr Patel’s patients can be assured of exceptional care.
