Dr Arnold studied medicine at Oxford University and University College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1979. Further medical training and experience followed at established centres, including Charing Cross Hospital in London.
Cardiology was a strong interest for Dr Arnold throughout his career and he undertook specialist training in Leicester. He was added to the GMC’s specialist register for cardiology and general (internal) medicine in 1997.
An appointment as a consultant cardiologist in Oxfordshire followed. The extensive experience gained since allows Dr Arnold to offer wide support.
He treats cases of arrhythmias, ischaemic (coronary) heart disease, heart failure, hypertension and valvular heart disease. All of which may present with symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, blackouts or breathlessness.
Dr Arnold believes in fully understanding how his patients lives are affected by their condition. Part of accurate diagnosis and establishing the best path to recovery, so they can enjoy their lives going forward.
Research & Teaching
In 1994, Dr Arnold was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1994 from Leicester University. A doctorate which is clinical research based.
He regularly teaches cardiology to undergraduates from Oxford University and junior doctors within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
